My Recent (Mis)adventure

Okay, so this happened a little while ago, but I still just wanted to get it off of my chest for a bit. Ladies, you’re going to know what I’m talking about a lot more than a guy would. So for women, in order to screen for any issues of cancer, we have to get a pap smear. Now normally, this might not seem like such a big deal. In fact, as I complained to some family about the process a little before, I was told that I was overreacting.
So I get to the place about 30 minutes before my appointment. I guess I was hoping that they might see me early and it would all be over a whole lot sooner. Nope. 3 hours later I finally get to go to the back room. Then it’s another 30 minutes before the real thing begins.
Absolute torture for me. Mainly because of being asexual the whole process of having something shoved “up there” is so foreign to me in the first place, not painful because I’m not a virgin, just super uncomfortable and extremely anxiety inducing. I mean, I literally went into the bathroom and had a panic attack and good cry after it was all over. And this has to happen every year? I mean, I get the whole being careful and knowledge is power deal, but sometimes a little understanding would be nice.
But you only get that when someone actually knows. And I’m pretty sure that the only person that I’ve told (who is guy) wouldn’t quite want to hear about it. So yeah. That’s my recent (mis)adventure.
